International Summer School in Occupational Risk Assessment

The course will include three days of lectures and workshops at university and two days of on-site practical training in real workplaces in industrial companies.

All activities will be conducted in English.

The Summer School is organised under the project “RiskMan” (2018-1-CZ01-KA203-048141) co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

Target group:

University students from the VSB-Technical University of Ostrava and The University of Minho.

The course is intended for students from the 1st year of Master degree programme or students from 3rd or 2nd year of Bachelor programme with some knowledge on safety and risk assessment.

Course lecturers/trainers:

International lecturers from The University of Minho in Portugal, VSB-Technical University of Ostrava and The Austrian Workers' Compensation Board (AUVA) accompanied by the OSH professionals from the industrial companies.

Summer school is free of charge thanks to the support from the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. 

Practical information:

Accommodation will be provided at the Halls of Residence VSB-TU Ostrava in shared two-bed rooms equipped with a kitchen unit, a bathroom and free wi-fi. The halls of residence are located in Poruba in the main VSB campus, address: Studentská 1770/1, 700 32 Ostrava - Poruba

Thomas Strobach, AUVA, Austria

Thomas is an Occupational, Clinical and Health Psychologist, Safety Technician; Psychologist in the prevention department of AUVA.
Main topics: Psychosocial risks and evaluation of prevention services and campaigns.

Christian Schenk, AUVA, Austria

Christian is a Mechanical Engineer; Head of vocational training in the field of prevention of Austrian General Workers Compensation Board (AUVA).
Main topics: Risk Assessment (in general), Machinery Safety and CE-marking, workplace evaluation

Barbara Huber, AUVA, Austria

Barbara is an Occupational, Clinical and Health Psychologist, Safety Technician; Psychologist in the prevention department of AUVA.
Main topics: Psychosocial risks, training and digitalization

Susana Costa Costa, UMINHO, Portugal,

Susana is an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Minho, where she also is a researcher at the ALGORITMI Research Center in the “Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM)” research line, group of “Ergonomics and Human Factors”. She is an Occupational Safety and Hygiene Specialist since 2010 and a certified internal auditor of Integrated Management Systems for Quality, Environment and Safety since 2015.

Isabel Loureiro, UMINHO, Portugal

Isabel is a Business consultant being a Strategist, an Innovation Advisor and Transformative Explorer. She is a Human Factor Faculty at Production and Systems Department of University of Minho where she is also Member of Industrial Engineering and Management Research and Development Line at Algoritmi research Centre.

Petr Kaňka, Kashioka Solutions, Czech republic

Petr mastered in environmental geology and geochemistry at the Faculty of Science at Charles University in Prague. He used to work for large companies (RWE, Innogy, Foxconn) as a corporate HSE manager, currently works as an independent consultant and chief executive officer in safety consulting company. Experienced also in teams in USA and Germany. He lectures in the Czech Republic and you may meet him also at many international conferences in HSE area.

Šárka Hermanová, Stant Manufacturing s.r.o., Czech republic

Šárka is a Human Resources Manager in Stant Manufacturing s.r.o. (American automotive company) with responsibility for HSE; Coach and Mentor. She focuses in particular on soft skills development and individual coaching.

Ivana Slováčková, VŠB - TUO, Czech republic

Ivana is a consultant and trainer in the areas of safety leadership, safety culture and effective training (self-employed person).
She is also Academic staff at the Faculty of Safety Engineering, VSB

Lucie Kocůrková, VŠB - TUO, Czech republic

Lucie is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Safety Engineering, VSB. She is the guarantor and key lecturer of several OSH courses at the faculty. She has been working in occupational safety and health (OSH) for the last 10 years. Her research interests are focused on risk assessment methodology and aerosol exposure assessment. She is a member of WOS.net and ENETOSH network.
